Draw them yourself.
We’re building a tutor that teaches you to draw real people.
See how a face is builtWatch a step, then draw it
Choose a face
Pick a face and it opens at the angle it was photographed.
Watch, then draw
Watch one step build on screen, then draw it yourself on paper.
Compare
Photograph your page and lay the guide over it, so you can check your drawing before the next step.
Light lines before dark ones
Every face starts with faint guide lines, the way artists work.
- 2HGuide lines, barely there
- HBPlacing the features
- 2BStructure and edges
- 4BShadow shapes
- 6BThe darkest accents, last
Three ways to build a head
You choose. Whichever you pick, every face starts with faint guides.
Loomis
A ball, sliced flat at the sides, with a jaw hung below. A good place to start, at any angle.
Asaro planes
The head as flat planes that catch the light or turn away from it.
Reilly rhythms
Long, flowing curves that link the features across the face.
Loomis, Asaro and Reilly are named to describe drawing methods. Kindrawn is not affiliated with or endorsed by them or their estates.
For people who can draw a little
- Adults who want their faces to stop looking “off”.
- Anyone who wants to draw someone they love: a partner, a child, a parent.
- Art students who want real faces to practise on, with a method they choose.
